By conducting user research interviews and analyzing that data, the team gathered information that categorized our target market into 4 personas: The Cash Strapper, The Do Gooder, The Idealist, and The Financial Optimizer. The data gathered allowed us to categorize these personas by financial literacy, economic standing, & ideals.

Utilizing the expertise of our cross functional partners, the team worked in a series of design workshops. This allowed the Design & Product team to capture/filter/group ideas & document any potential engineering constraints.

Onboarding

Like any great onboarding solution, our goal was to have customers sign up quickly to access the platform. This comes with hurdles in banking—the main one being the amount of personal information that customers need to provide to secure their accounts. Our solution was based on two principles: make it conversational and limit the number of choices per page—collecting only the information needed to open the account. Once customers have successfully signed up, we can use the in-app experience to gather any additional details we may need, as well as advertise other accounts and features.

Dashboard

As a team, we decided there are certain features and information that must be provided to customers on the dashboard at all times. The main one is the account balance, since it's the primary reason for customers to log in. Additionally, we included an area to encourage account configuration if details are missing. We also display product offerings and information about the number of trees the customer has planted.

Account Details

When navigating into the details of the Aspiration Zero account, we are given the opportunity to present further detail. Account Balance, Min Payment Amount, Payment Due Date, Carbon Footprint Progress, Current & Previous Statements are all accessible. A FAB pinned to lower right corner provided the customers account specific actions.

Takaways

Through the successful launch of Aspiration Zero, the team was able to deploy a scalable visual solution, acquire new customers, and provide additional value to the business. By building this product, the design had an opportunity to transition from Sketch to Figma.
This allowed us to design a new component library and deploy those components to the entire application: creating better documentation on how every aspect of the design should function.
